Sculptural Ensemble of
Constantin Brâncuşi fromTârgu Jiu is an homage to the Romanian heroes of the First World War. The three sculptures — "The Table of Silence", "The Kiss Gate" and "The Endless Column" — are disposed on an axis 1275 m long, oriented West-East."
The Table of Silence " is made from limestone. Originally the twelve chairs were much closer to the table and were arranged in pairs."
The Kiss Gate " coord|45|2|18.07|N|23|16|9.79|E|display=inline, of Banpotoc travertine (marble), features a kiss motif on the gate pillars . The whole work is supported on a steel axle, set in a concrete foundation 5 square meters."
The Endless Column " coord|45|2|8.90|N|23|16|51.20|E|display=inline stacks 17 rhomboidal cast iron modules (formerly brassed) in a 29.3 m high column. The modules were made in the central workshop ofPetroşani , assembled under the engineerŞtefan Georgescu-Gorjan , and completedOctober 27 ,1938 . The column was restored in1964 .External links
