January 27 ,1906 Porto Alegre -January 13 ,1988 Rio de Janeiro ) was aBrazil ian classicalcomposer , conductor,orchestrator , andarranger .Radamés Gnattali was the son of Alessandro Gnattali and Adélia Fossati. Both his father and mother were musicians. Gnattali was a
pianist andviolinist early in his career, but soon after moving from Porto Alegre toRio de Janeiro he became a successful conductor, composer and arranger. Though his first works were background scores forradio serial s, by the 1930s he was composing concert music in a Neo-Romantic style also incorporatingjazz and traditional Brazilian strains. Over the decades, the emphasis Gnattali placed on these components shifted towards jazz in the early 1950s and back towards the Brazilian popular styles by the start of the 1960s. He composed several important guitar scores, the weightiest being three soloconcertos and three duo concertos.External links
