- Terras Salgadas
The Terras Salgadas (Portuguese meaning the
salt y lands, also in the Capeverdean Crioulo forms ofALUPEC orALUPEK and the São Vicente: "Ponta d' Sol") is a flat terrain covering the northern half of the island ofMaio in southeasternCape Verde . The land is rich insaltpane s in which the terrain is named after and are located to the northwest. The salt are mined in small quantities, most of them are not mined. The saltpanes is located northwest of the nearest settlement ofMorrinho . Distance is also located 30 km north of the island capital,Vila do Maio and west of Santo Antônio. Its elevations reach as high as 10 to 20 m.Nearest features

The terrain offers a view of the
Atlantic Ocean as well as the northern and the central parts of the island that contains mountains. A small part of the island of Boa Vista lies to the north.
