Knitty

Knitty.com is an online knitting magazine based in Toronto and published quarterly since fall 2002.

The magazine was founded by Amy R. Singer and has been edited by her since its inception. Knitty presents original knitting patterns, essays, and how-to articles written by professionals and non-professionals in the field. The site is one of the most prominent facets of the revitalization of the knitting craft scene in the 21st century. Traditional print media, television how-to shows, and books in the field refer to Knitty as a reliable and prominent source of information on the craft.

Amy R. Singer has parlayed her success with Knitty into the field of book publishing as well, with four knitting-related books in print by early 2008. [ Singer, Amy R. and Jillian Moreno "More Big Girl Knits: 25 Designs Full of Color and Texture for Curvy Women" (2008). ISBN-13: 978-0307353740
Singer, Amy R., "No Sheep for You: Knit Happy with Cotton, Silk, Linen, Hemp, Bamboo & Other Delights" (2007). ISBN-13: 978-1596680128

Knitty has been responsible for launching the careers of many knitwear designers, as well as showcasing the diversity and energy of the knitting community. Knitty hosts and maintains active forums and fosters online community within the craft. Some patterns published in Knitty have experienced an almost viral success, such as Kate Gilbert's Clapotis and Laura Aylor's Lizard Ridge.
