Saitama Prefecture ,Japan in 1943. After graduating from Kawaguchi High School andRikkyo University , he played professionally in theJapan Soccer League for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (nowUrawa Red Diamonds ) in Saitama Prefecture. He played a total of 136 league games, and 37 games for the national team. Yokoyama also played in two Olympics, including the bronze-medal team at the 1968 Summer Olympics.After retiring as a player, Yokoyama took over the coaching reins of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 1976, and coached them for eight years, winning the league championship in 1978 and 1982. The team also won the
Japan Soccer League Cup twice, in 1978 and 1982, and theEmperor's Cup twice, in 1978 and 1980.
