Kārlis Zāle (born
28 October 1888 ,Mažeikiai ,Lithuania ; died19 February 1942 , Inčukalns,Latvia ) was aLatvia nsculptor .After training in Russia and Germany he returned to
Riga , where he both worked in sculpture and taught it. He is best known for his monumental sculptures, including the Brothers' Cemetery and theFreedom Monument in Riga.References
