- Girolamo Grimaldi
Girolamo, Cardinal Grimaldi (1674-1733) was
baptized inGenoa on November 15, 1674. He graduated from theUniversity of Avignon in 1705. He wasordain ed as aRoman Catholic priest on April 7, 1709.He was appointed the titular
Archbishop of Edessa in Osrhoëne in 1712, and created a cardinal in theconsistory of October 2, 1730. He became thepapal legate inBologna and in 1731 Legate in the duchies ofParma andPiacenza .In 1733 while travelling by sea from
Naples to Genoa, he became ill, and was taken ashore atIschia , he died there on November 18, 1733. His body was taken to Genoa and buried in the church of S. Filippo.References
