November 14 , 1962 aged 48) was a Britishcricket scorer andstatistician . AfterWorld War II , in which he served with theRoyal Air Force , he decided to turn what had been his hobby into his profession. He had the necessary proficiency with figures, having previously been anaccountant . He was the scorer forBBC Television 's Test coverage for many years. He editedThe Cricket Annual in 1961 and 1962. He was joint editor of the magazinePlayfair Cricket Monthly and wrote a number of cricket books. He also wrote for theNews Chronicle and theDaily Mail .He married twice. First circa 1940 to Margaret Winiefred Bentley. 2 children: Patience Margaret 1942, Nigel Emary Roy 1943. Divorced circa 1946. Second circa 1952 to Daphne Goodacre. No children. He died of a heart attack, and was buried at
