KKZQ (100.1 FM "The Edge") is a commercial radio station in Tehachapi, California, broadcasting to the Lancaster, California area. KKZQ leases space on KSRY's tower.

History

KKZQ signed on in 2001 as Rhythmic Oldies "Mojo 100.1 FM".

In 2002, KKZQ flipped to Soft AC as "The Breeze 100.1", formatted very similarly to the already well established KOST 103.5 FM in Los Angeles (which could be received in the Antelope Valley).

In 2003, KKZQ flipped to its current format as Modern Rock "The Edge 100.1". The format stuck because there were no other Modern Rock formatted stations audible in the Antelope Valley. Notable on air personalities include comedian Jeff Duran.

Programming

The station programming includes local programming starting with Fathead, who is on during the morning. KC is on during the midday. The "Daily Special" is on during your lunch hour, while KC is on the air. Notable on air personality, Jeff Duran, is on in the afternoon. Niki takes you through your night time. Wrapping up the night is the "EDGE On Eleven" which is also on weekends too. Personalities Kristin and Stroke are on weekends.
