Peter Wright (ballet)

Peter Wright (1926-) is a British choreographer and ballet director. He is the current laureate director of the Birmingham Royal Ballet. He was formerly the Artistic Director of the Royal Ballet, for which he choreographed many works, including a notable production of "The Nutcracker" which featured Anthony Dowell as the Sugar Plum Fairy's Cavalier. This production, staged in 1984, was heavily based on the original 1892 production of the ballet and its choreography. It was first telecast on A&E in 1985, and was restaged with Dowell now co-directing and dancing the role of Drosselmeyerfact|date=February 2008, in 2000, followed by an all-new telecast in 2001, on PBS.
