IBM PC Convertible , with an a 4.77MHz 80C88 processor, 512 kB of RAM, and a monochrome CGA-compatible LCD. Unlike the Convertible, it includes a standardserial port andparallel port , connectors for an external monitor, and areal-time clock . An optional accessory was a 768 kB memory extension, which could be used either as LIM EMS or as a non-volatileramdisk .Unusually for an IBM compatible PC, the T1000 contained a 256 kB ROM with a copy of
MS-DOS 2.11. This acted as a small, read-onlyhard drive . Alternative operating systems could still be loaded from the floppy drive, or (if present) the ramdisk. The Toshiba T1000 has been considered the first "real" laptop. Before the T1000 previous supposedly portable computers were large and unwieldy (the term draggable may be more appropriate).
Later T-Series laptops included the
Toshiba T1200 .References
