Armin Veh (born 1 February 1961 in Augsburg, Germany), a former German footballer (Midfielder), is the current manager of Bundesliga team VfB Stuttgart which won the German championship on 19 May 2007. Veh and his team also had the chance to win "the double" by winning the DFB-Cup on 26 May 2007 in Berlin, but lost 2-3 in overtime against 1. FC Nuremberg.

Career as player

Veh played from 1979 to 1983 in Bundesliga at Borussia Mönchengladbach. With Gladbach Veh played in the 1980 UEFA Cup final, losing against Eintracht Frankfurt. In 1984 a broken leg ended his career as a Bundesliga-level pro.

In 1985, Veh resumed playing in his home town for FC Augsburg, moving in 1987 for a few months to local rival TSV Schwaben Augsburg. Due to injuries he played only 8 games in 2nd Bundesliga for SpVgg Bayreuth before retiring in November 1990.

He scored 2 goals in 65 Bundesliga games, one goal in 60 2nd Bundesliga games, and appeared in 18 games of Swiss NLA.

Career as coach

Back at his home town, he coached FC Augsburg from 1990 to 1995, leading the team from Oberliga to Regionalliga in 1994. Having moved in 1996 to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, he led the team 1997 into 2. Bundesliga before being sacked in October 1997. From July 1998 to December 2001 he coached SSV Reutlingen, leading them in 2000 also into 2. Bundesliga.

From January 2002 on, Veh coached FC Hansa Rostock in Bundesliga, resigning in October 2003 from the north eastern team to focus on his family in southern Germany. After coaching local FC Augsburg until September 2004, he was unemployed until 11 February 2006 when he was hired by VfB Stuttgart to replace Giovanni Trapattoni as a stop-gap until the end of that season in June 2006. Yet, on 18 April 2006 his contract was extended until summer 2007, and on 19 January 2007 for another year.

In May 2007, Veh and VfB Stuttgart scored their biggest successes by winning the German championship on 19 May 2007 and qualifying for the DFB Cup final of 26 May 2007 in Berlin, which gave Veh and his team the chance to win "the double". The opponenent, 1. FC Nuremberg, had beaten Stuttgart twice in regular season, and prevailed again by beating VfB Stuttgart 3-2 in overtime. In the 2007-2008 season Stuttgart found it tougher as champions and finished 6th.
