Contents

Career

Before becoming a stage hypnotist in 1985, he worked as a disc jockey and a professional magician.[2]

Hypnosis Show

Sylver had a hypnosis show at Harrah's in Las Vegas in 2007[3] and at the Palms in 2003.[4]

He also had shows at the Sahara Hotel and the Stratosphere [5] in the mid 1990's.

Television

Sylver has appeared on Late Night with David Letterman[6] and The Montel Williams Show.[7]

He had an infomercial, Passion Profit & Power, that ran in the mid 1990's.[8]

In the first episode of the third series of Louis Theroux's Wild Weekends, Sylver's seminars were featured, where the power of persuasion was purportedly used to teach attendees how to become self-made millionaires.[9]

Seminars

Sylver is a motivational speaker and business consultant. He was a speaker at the Learning Annex "Wealth Expo" along with Tony Robbins in 2006[10] as well as the First Annual Entrepreneur Success Summit in 2010.[11] He also hosts the "Turning Point Seminar."[12]

Books and CDs

Sylver wrote a book titled "Passion, Profit & Power," which was published by Simon & Schuster in 1997, along with audio cassettes by the same name, as part of a subconscious training system.[13] "Passion, Profit & Power" was a bestseller from Berita Book Centre and MPH Bookstores for the week of July 19, 1997.[14]

Radio and Movies

Sylver hosts a radio show titled "Get Rich Radio."[15] He starred in the 2010 movie "Tranced," which was the first movie intended to hypnotize the audience.[16]

Legal issues

Indictment and Dismissal of Charges

On April 14, 2003, a grand jury indicted Sylver on nine felony counts of obtaining money under false pretenses.[17] At Sylver's trial, the jury deadlocked, 10-2, prompting District Judge Valerie Vega to declare a mistrial. In 2005, Vega dismissed the case, and the attorney general's office withdrew the charges.[18]

Five of the nine witnesses against Sylver were able to eventually get their money back by winning civil judgments against him in small claims court.[19]

Sale and Possession of counterfeit money

As a youthful offender, in 1984, Sylver pled guilty to the sale and possession of counterfeit federal reserve notes.[20] He was sentenced to six months imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release. He was unconditionally discharged from probation one year early and his conviction was set aside.[21]

Lawsuit over gambling debts

The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas filed a lawsuit against Sylver, alleging he amassed over $200,000 in gambling debts.[22] The Judge dismissed the case, entering an Order of Dismissal on May 19, 2004.[23]
