Indian cricket team in England in 1946

The Indian cricket team toured England in the 1946 season and played 29 first-class fixtures, winning 11, losing only four and drawing 14.

India played three Test matches and lost the series to England 1-0 with two matches drawn. England won the First Test by 10 wickets at Lord's; the Second Test at Old Trafford and the Third Test at The Oval were both drawn.

The Indian team was captained by Iftikhar Ali Khan, the Nawab of Pataudi, who was one of the few players to represent two countries in Test cricket, having played for England during the 1930s. Other notable players in the 1946 team were Lala Amarnath, Vijay Hazare, Vijay Merchant and Abdul Kardar.
