- Bruce Yandle
Bruce Yandle is the interim dean of
Clemson University 's College of Business & Behavior Sciences and a professor of economics emeritus at Clemson. He is a DistinguishedAdjunct Professor of Economics at theMercatus Center , and a faculty member with George Mason University's Capitol Hill Campus. He has served as executive director of theFederal Trade Commission inWashington, D.C. , and served on the "President 'sCouncil onWage andPrice Stability" from 1976 to 1978.Yandle received his
MBA andPhD fromGeorgia State University . His main research interest isfree market environmentalism .Prior to starting his career in academia, Yandle had a fifteen-year career in the industrial machinery business. He lives with his wife in Round Oak, Georgia.
Regulation
Yandle was the first to put forth the story of
the bootlegger and the Baptist , which describes how economic and ethical interests ally with one another to promoteregulation , even though the two groups would never interact otherwise.Publications
