The Fire

In 2006 the school suffered a huge fire destroying classrooms, staff rooms, a dining area and an Upper school hall. The school is due to under go a multi-million pound rebuild as from the summer 2007.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. Recently the local council granted the extra funds needed for the desired re-build, a two-story state of the art teaching block. The new block will be the start of a complete re-build of the school within the in the next 10-15 years which will house a Learning Resource suite (incorporating Library and ICT facilities)

The Rebuild

Light Hall School are delighted that they have secured the additional funding required to build a quality building for what will now be the first phase of a complete rebuild of the school.

The inspirational design (see plans attached) will house the accommodation lost in their fire of February 2007. In addition, it will also contain fully integrated and modern facilities for the performing arts (music and drama) plus new teaching rooms for our main specialism, mathematics. Our new dining facilities will be student-centred and have the flexibility to extend into external seating. Also included will be a modern library with extensive e-learning facilities.

These major new facilities will form the first half of a complete rebuild of the school. The second phase may be a few years away but Light Hall School are extremely encouraged by the progress we have made to-date.The building is expected to be complete in October 2008.
