The November 17th 1967 Student Demonstrations were crucial to the evolution of the treatment of African Americans in the education system in Philadelphia. During the demonstrations, the high school students of Philadelphia came together to peacefully protest for a common cause. The demonstrations were led by Walter Palmer.
On November 17th, 1967, thousands of African-American students in the Philadelphia school system walked out of their high schools and started on a journey towards the school district building.
The students had many demands from the School District of Philadelphia, including the right to wear African Attire in school, the right to an African-American History course in the curriculum, and more African-American teachers.
