July 11 ,1985 ,is an Australian rock and roll guitarist who has been a regular member of well known Australian bands such as the punk rockabilly trioThe Bazooka Joes and more so currently with classic rockersThe Loves .Early Days
Michael first started playing the guitar at the age of 5 but did not begin to take it too seriously until the age of 13 when attending High School. His pasion of
rockabilly andGretsch guitars soon powered him onto establishing one of the finest young 'billy acts to come out of Australia. The Bazooka Joes played regularly and their CD found itself cemented (apparently of course) in fellow Aussie rockers The Living Ends CD players as quoted by drummer Andy Strachan. The Bazooka Joes went onto getting high recognition in Japan where most CDs were sold, as well as the USA whereMike Lewis ofFender Musical Instrument Corporation chased after Michael to make him only Australia's third endorsed musician for Gretsch Guitars.2006 - Now
Since his departure from The Bazooka Joes, Michael would go on as a professional Sydney session guitarist on the live scene. After shows playing alongside
Ian Moss from the legendaryCold Chisel and residencies in some of the cities leading rooms such as The Coogee Bay Hotel, The Orient in The Rocks, Mean Fiddler and as well as half time and full time entertainment at Stadium Australia for the NRL semis. Michael is now playing guitar full time for his own 'band for hire' which varies from acoustic duo to five piece electric rock bands and most thing in between. He is also playing guitar for pop rock artist Juzzy.Michael's current trademark is the
Gretsch White Falcon electric guitar, as shared by his heroesMalcolm Young ,Brian Setzer and his mateChris Cheney ofThe Living End , which Michael has also been lucky enough to play guitar in for a special occasion. Michael collects guitars, mainly Gretsches. He owns several 6120s and Jets, as well as first ever Gretsch which is a mint condition 1961 Tennessean. Michael plays Wizard amplifiers exclusively live plus also owns Marshall, Vox and Matchless amps and uses mainly custom made effect pedals from brands such as Ulbrick and T.C.N from Perth, Australia.
