All Saints Greek Orthodox Grammar School, or simply All Saints Grammar, is an independent, Greek Orthodox Christian, co-educational, day school, comprised of two campuses, a Junior campus (Kindergarten to Grade 6) in Lakemba, and the "Towers Campus" (Grade 7 to Grade 12) in Belmore, both south-western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Academia

All Saints Grammar caters for academic excellence particularly well, with many of the teachers and subject co-ordinators having notable experience in their department. Despite being a relatively small school, Extension English, Mathematics, History and Greek subjects are well catered for by experienced members of staff who are often willing to assist in whichever ways that they can to ensure students are well-equipped academically to perform well in the subjects that they choose.

Between Years 8-10 students are offered elective subjects, having completed a mandatory year of Music in year 7, and a further year (year 7-8) of Mandatory D&T and VA. Elective subjects on offer include: Photography, Commerce, Design and Technology, Information Technology, Food Technology and Textiles.

In Years 11 and 12 (Preliminary HSC and HSC), students are offered a decent selection of subjects including (Mandatory State-wide) 2 Unit Advanced and Standard English, Extension English 1 in the Preliminary year and Extension 2 in the HSC year, Mathematics 2 Unit, General, Extension 1 in Prelim and 2 in HSC. 2 Units of Mathematics is mandatory in the Preliminary year, and optional in the HSC year (as is the policy of most other schools). Modern and Ancient History, Extension History, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Legal Studies, Business Studies, Design and Technology, PDHPE, IST, Visual Arts, Studies of Religion, Modern Greek and Orthodoxy are also the usual subjects offered to HSC students. In larger year groups other subjects are also sometimes offered, such subjects include Economics, Photography or Geography.

Despite small year groups of about 40 to a maximum of about 60 students per grade, a diverse selection of subjects is still offered, and subject co-ordination tries to accommodate the subjects that students want to pursue based upon the demand for each subject.

All Saints Grammar has a record of good results for students completing the HSC. In the past, diligent and able students have attained 90 and above UAI scores, including Band 6 results in individual subjects. A notable proportion of the HSC Year 12 cohort have usually received Band 5 results in individual subjects, particularly in recent years since 2004-05. Mostly all students wishing to enter into University courses are successful in doing so, after completing their HSC.

All Saints accommodates athletic/sports-oriented students well, particularly in regards to sports such as soccer for both boys and girls, basketball, softball and austag; in addition to various other sports in competition with other schools.

On Tuesday afternoons, all students are required to participate in a sport of their choice which they select on the schools computer systems' sports selection program accessible anywhere within the school on the school intranet. Due to the grounds being relatively small to cater for the diverse range of sports that are offered, most students board school-hired buses to sporting venues external to the school for the afternoon before returning back to school on bus prior to the home dismissal bell at 3.25pm.

For athletics and swimming carnivals, students are divided into four Houses. Houses are given colors and names, as is done in many other schools around NSW. Houses include Attica (Green), Ionia (Red), Kyrenia (Yellow) and Macedonia (Orange).

Technology

All Saints has a modern installation of networked computers available to all students in the primary computer lab and across various classrooms throughout the school, in addition to the library. The computers at the school were recently updated at the beginning of 2008, they are Vista capable but have XP installed for better stability and networking.

The computer systems allow students to create documents, presentations, websites, diagrams and access the internet at broadband speed. All computers allow students to create dvd's and cd's, and edit video using movie creation software on PC's and using iMovie on a select few Mac computers that are available. Students can edit photographs using Adobe Photoshop CS3, available to use across mostly all computers, particularly in what was the previous 'dark room' for photographic film, which has now been converted into a computer lab room with a selection of creative Adobe software installed.

Religious and Cultural Affiliations

All Saints Grammar maintains a Greek Orthodox Christian 'ethos'. The school is accepting of students from other cultural/ethnic or religious backgrounds, and does not exclusively enroll only Greek Orthodox children, which is a common misconception that understandably may continue to exist, considering the Schools name.

Students are required to attend a church liturgy service usually on a Thursday once per month of the school year, and occasionally on Sundays. Staff and students that are not Greek Orthodox may attend, there is a somewhat ambiguous and sometimes flexible attitude towards this (requires citation).

The school continues to maintain a relatively strong connection to Greek culture, and there are various events throughout the year that show this, for example celebration and acknowledgment of "Oxi Day" (for Greek Independence), "Pascal Day" (Related to Greek Orthodox Easter) and "Philotimo Day", relating to the Greek ideal of philanthropy and in celebrating the good in humanity and the kind, giving things we can do for one another.

The school is also very much proud of our Australian identity. The Australian, Greek and Cypriot flags are flown atop the Tower in the Senior school and Australian and Greek flags are flown at the Junior School. Students participate in Australian culture and study Australian identity, literature and other aspects of Australian culture in the same way as other schools do state-wide in NSW.
