- Eikos
Eikos, Inc is a
technology company based inFranklin, Massachusetts that is developing transparent, electrically conductivecarbon nanotube films and nanotube inks for transparent conductive coatings. Eikos has branded its technology as Invisicon. It was founded in1996 byJoseph Piche .Eikos is aiming to replace
indium tin oxide (ITO) and conducting polymers with carbon nanotube transparent conductors in several common electronic devices, such astouch screens ,LCD s,OLED s,photovoltaics ,electroluminescent lamps ,electronic paper . Nanotube films have several advantages over ITO, which make them attactive in these markets. For example, nanotube films are exceptionally flexible and can be deposited using low cost, atmospheric coating methods.Eikos' coatings have been recognized by R&D Magazine with the R&D 100 Award in 2005 for environmentally friendly coatings [ [http://www.rdmag.com/rd100ach/ R&D 100 Awards Archives ] ] and the Micro/Nano 25 in 2006 [ [http://www.nanotechwire.com/news.asp?nid=3559&ntid=&pg=46 Eikos' Invisicon Carbon Nanotube Transparent Conductive Coatings Win Award From R&D Magainze, Industry, Eikos - NanoTechWire.com - The online resource for Nano Technology And Research ] ] . Eikos also was awarded a Technology Innovation Award for Materials and other Base Technologies by the
Wall Street Journal [ [http://www.dowjones.com/innovation/ei_winners_2006.html#materialsother Technology Innovation Awards ] ] in September, 2006.References
