Phu Sang ( _th. ภูซาง) is a district ("Amphoe") of Phayao Province in northern Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from the south clockwise) Chiang Kham of Phayao Province and Thoeng of Chiang Rai Province. To the northeast is Xaignabouli Province of Laos.

History

The minor district was established on June 26 1996. The new district became effective on July 15, and covered five "tambon" previously belonging to Chiang Kham district. Following a decision of the Thai government on May 15 2007, all of the 81 minor districts were to be upgraded to full districts. Administration

The district is subdivided into 5 subdistricts ("tambon"), which are further subdivided into 58 villages ("muban"). Sop Bong is a subdistrict municipality ("thesaban tambon") which covers the whole "tambon" Sop Bong. There is further 4 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
