Maritime Pro Kart Series

Maritime Pro Kart Series

The Maritime Pro Kart Series (or MPKS) is a regional kart racing series held in Atlantic Canada.

Structure of the series

The MPKS is a regional series, serving the four Atlantic Canadian Kart clubs (AMKA in Halifax, Nova Scotia[1], CKRA in Moncton, New Brunswick[2], IKC on Prince Edward Island[3], NBKC in Fredericton, New Brunswick[4]). This means it is organized and run by a Coordinator, a representative of the regional governing body, the 4 Club Presidents and 4 Club Representatives. Each Club hosts one event per year, and the champions are decided on points scored. A driver drops his or her worst race day and can only keep their best three.[5]

The MPKS was introduced in 2003 and replaced the Maritime Championship Series[6], which had run its races almost exclusively at CKRA. With the number of clubs in the area rising from two to four in 2001, increased pressure was put on a 4-club, 4-race format to be fair to all drivers.
