Grady Martin (January 17, 1929 in Chapel Hill, TennesseeDecember 3, 2001 in Lewisburg, Tennessee) was a noted session musician who played guitar on several hit songs including "Honky Tonk Man" by Johnny Horton.

He began playing professionally in 1946 and later became guitarist in The Radio Playboys, a band accompanying Nashville singer Big Jeff Bess. By 1951 he was a part of the rising Nashville recording scene as a studio guitarist and fiddler. He was signed to Decca Records, and led his own recording band called "Grady Martin and the Slew Foot Five." [ [http://news.independent.co.uk/people/obituaries/article35765.ece Independent Online obituary] ] The band was primarily a studio group who released records. Martin doubled both fiddle and guitar. He provided the guitar on the Marty Robbins hit songs El Paso (1959) and Don't Worry (1960), and he would later be heard on Roy Orbison's Oh, Pretty Woman (1964). [ [http://www.cmt.com/artists/az/martin_grady/bio.jhtml CMT.com/All Music Guide] ] Martin also played guitar on the records of country artist Loretta Lynn. From 1979 to 1994, with his studio career over, he became lead guitarist for Willie Nelson's touring band.

He is also in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.

Martin is credited with having the inspiration for adding distortion to the electric guitar.Fact|date=June 2008
