School of Liberal Arts

The School of Liberal Arts- SOLA is a private coeducational university preparatory school located in Toronto. It was founded in 1989 by David L. Ferguson and G. Michael MacConnell.

Since the schools establishment, it has focused on the liberal arts and employed Socratic method as the preferred style of teaching. This is enhanced by a very close teacher/student relationship with the latter calling their teachers by their first names, as well as small class sizes (approx. 1:12 on average)and an interdisciplinary approach.

The school functions on the semestered system with students undertaking a maximum of four courses per session. While a full load of courses is the norm, single courses are also available.

SOLA offers semestered, summer school and study abroad courses for day school and summer school students. Tuition for courses is roughly $2200, while full school year tuition is roughly $15000-$17000. Study Abroad courses carry tuitions that vary with destination.

The school attracts students from all areas of Toronto including Forest Hill, Rosedale, Leaside, Lawrence Park, and the Bridle Path, as well as suburbs such as Mississauga, Markham, Unionville,Aurora and King City.
