Winter Enrichment Program

For six Fridays starting on the first Friday of January after students come back from winter break Salmon Bay has what is known as the Winter Enrichment Program (WEP), which are both in and out of school activities. Students have signed up for a program prior to going to winter break. The programs offered are bead making, rock climbing, touring Seattle, bowling/movie making, skiing or snowboarding at Snoqualmie Pass. The program was first organized by Jay Sasnett, a teacher at the school. At first skiing/snowboarding was the only program offered but the program has expanded. Skiing and snowboarding still remains the most popular of the activities with roughly two-thirds of the middle school doing it. In the 2004-2005 school year the program was put on hiatus due to unseen lack of snow at the pass. Only one day of programs were held. Jay rocks!!
