InApp Information Technologies (known in USA as Internet Applications Group) is a CMMI Level 5 software services company based at Palo Alto, California, USA with East coast offices located at Chapel Hill, North Carolina and an Off-Shore development center at Technopark in India. Founded in 1996 by a group of entrepreneurs having Big 5 consulting and considerable project implementation experience, InApp Information Technologies has since carved its own niche in the Information Technology services sector by providing its customers innovative software solutions backed by sound technology strategies.

InApp's offerings include new product design and engineering, enhancement of existing products, application porting, migration testing, training and support. These offerings span multiple architectures: stand-alone, client-server, web-based, web services-based and multi-tiered. Backed by sound Project Management Practices optimized for offshoring, and an innovative, young team with deep skills in J2EE, .NET, Multimedia and different open source platforms, InApp has delivered reliability, exceptional value and a consistently high ROI to its clients. InApp has been assessed at CMMI Level 5 Certification, thus placing it in the elite group of software companies in the world to have achieved this distinction.

InApp's clients

InApp has a client-base, located in the USA, Europe, Middle East and India. These clients range from mid-sector Product Development firms, Fortune 500 companies, UN Organizations and Universities in USA. Among them are Sun Microsystems, Stanford University, Georgetown University, Duke University, Sigma Tau [ [http://www.sigmatau.com/ Sigma-Tau] ] , Trane Corporation [ [http://www.trane.com/ Trane Commercial & Residential Air Solutions] ] , VSSC of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the International Collective in Support of Fishworkers (ICSF) and the "Malayala Manorama".

InApp and FLOSS

InApp has pioneered the use of the FLOSS (Free, Libre and Open Source Software) for applications, particularly in India. It has won accolades for implementation of Open Source and Linux in departments and organizations under Kerala Government. InApp is seen as one of the primary actors in the propagation and practical implementation of applications in these platforms.

InApp is conscious of its obligations to the community and has been striving to create conditions in which the larger community will share the fruits of the ongoing technological revolution. Whether it be by way of our advocacy to the FLOSS initiatives or by way of our efforts to build up a core Information Technology communications infrastructure to facilitate information exchange and monitoring in the Tsunami ravaged areas in India, InApp has always been a company with a conscience.

This involvement is further marked by the fact that all the senior members of the InApp board have been active proponents of open sharing of information technology based resources and knowledge for furthering e-governance through organisations like the Society for Promotion of Alternative Computing and Employment (SPACE) and Computer Society of India, disaster planning, rural capacity building or delivery of institutional services like healthcare and education. Mr. Satish Babu, President of InApp, is the Honorary Secretary of the national ExeCom of Computer Society of India.

Community service

InApp was drawn to the onerous task of organizing relief efforts in the aftermath of the Tsunami disaster that hit the South Indian coastal areas on December 26th, 2004. As a company, InApp shares its concern in the growth and sustenance of local communities whether it be by way of our involvement in e-governance projects, or with our involvement with NGO's that have been working with coastal communities. Satish Babu, the President of InApp, is a former CEO of South Indian Federation of Fishermen Societies (SIFFS). InApp has worked on various projects with the International Collective in Support of Fishworkers (ICSF), FAO of the UN and UNDP which were focused on building web-based IT infrastructure and multimedia based content.

As a first step towards organizing immediate relief, InApp staff collected funds and went in a group to one of the affected villages in Kanyakumari District, where the relief materials were handed over to a Red Cross camp.

InApp CEO, Amarnath Raja, camped in the worst-affected district of Nagapattinam, during the week following the disaster, and worked behind the scenes to create the Nagapattinam Rehabilitation Resource centre, NRRC (that later transitioned into the Nagapattinam NGO Co-ordination and Resource Centre,(NCRC), that co-ordinated all relief activity in the district in consultation with the District Administration. Mr. Raja is one of steering committee members of NRRC.

Satish Babu, by virtue of his past association with the SIFFS, the nodal NGO that is coordinating relief activities all over south India, held the fort at the central office and helped out with fund-raising, reporting and oversaw the development and administration of the portal www.tsunami-india2004.org [ [http://www.tsunami2004-india.org tsunami2004-india] ] , that has been averaging 100,000 hits per month since it was put up.
