Prospect Oval is a sports stadium located at Menzies Crescent, Prospect, in the
City of Prospect ,South Australia . The oval has a capacity of 20,000 people with seated grandstands holding 2,000. An unusual feature of the oval is that it is laid out askew from the conventional orientation of ovals, with the goal posts located at the South-Western and the North-Eastern ends, and the cricket pitch running in the same direction.It is home to both the
North Adelaide Football Club , who are a part of theSouth Australian National Football League , and theProspect Cricket Club , who are members of theSouth Australian Grade Cricket League , administered by theSouth Australian Cricket Association . Its record crowd is 19,137 attending a SANFL match between North Adelaide andPort Adelaide Football Club in 1958.The oval was opened in 1898 by the State Premier at the time Sir Charles Kingston. The North Adelaide Football Club first used the Oval for home games in 1922.The first match took place on
