Thirsk School and Sixth Form College is a secondary school located in Sowerby, a village adjoining Thirsk, North Yorkshire, England. The headteacher, Mr. Christopher Lewis, retires in July 2008 after nearly 28 years as headteacher at the school. The new person coming into the headteacher role is Mr Mason who has a good track record from his previous schools. Fully comprehensive and a specialist school in Maths & Computing, otherwise known as a Mathematics and Computing College. The school has nearly 1200 students, including about 180 students in the sixth form.
It was considered a "thoroughly good school with some outstanding features" by Ofsted [http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/reports/index.cfm?fuseaction=summary&id=121666] when it last visited (January 2008).
