Administration: history

Since its opening in September 1969, Broad Run has had only three principals: James C. McBride (1969–1979); E. Wayne Griffith (1980–1996); and Edgar T. Markley, Ed.D. (1997– ). *W. John Brewer, Ed.D. is the principal of Dominion High School. He served for nine years as an assistant principal and mathematics teacher at Broad Run High School. He holds a master's degree from George Mason University (1996), and a doctorate in education administration from the University of Virginia (2003). *Anne Brooks began her teaching career at Loudoun County High School in 1973 before transferring to Park View High School in 1976 when it opened. *Edgar Hatrick, Ed.D., has a long history with Loudoun County Public Schools. A 1963 graduate of Loudoun County High School, he became a teacher there in 1967. Hatrick was a member of the original Broad Run faculty when it opened in 1969 (teaching English), and then served as an assistant principal. After a series of other administrative posts he was appointed Superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools in 1991. *Prior to being assistant principal at Broad Run, Muriel Heanue (also "Mrs. Roberts" and "Meriel Roberts") was that school's special education department chair. In January 2005 she left Broad Run and became an assistant principal at Loudoun County High School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology/audiology from the University of Virginia and master’s degree in the education of the hearing impaired from Gallaudet University. *After serving as assistant principal for eight years at Broad Run, Michael Megeath assumed the principalship at C.S. Monroe Technology Center in Leesburg, Virginia in 1977.
