Great Meadow is a 250-acre field events center and steeplechase course located in
The Plains, Virginia . Arthur W. Arundel 20 years ago. Until then, the property had been slated to become a development of more than 500 homes. The site has instead become a model for adaptive use of open space for community events. Today, Great Meadow has become a valued member of the Virginia charitable and national equestrian sports communities, and is home to the annualVirginia Gold Cup steeplechase races. It is also used for other activities, includingmodel rocket launches such as, the annualTeam America Rocketry Challenge ; the pitch for the Warrenton Rugby Football Club'sMolly's Marauders , as well as the VHSL Virginia State Cross Country meet.
