Thadden family

"Von Thadden" is an old East Pomeranian noble family, first mentioned in the roll of Teutonic Knights under the Duke of Pomerania-Danzig in 1334. Early on, the family split into two branches with different arms:

The Nesnachow Branch: First mentioned in 1493 in a reference to Matthies von Nesenechouw, Lord of Nesnachow in the northwest district of Lauenburg, Pomerania. The Thadden-Enzow and Rybienke Branch in the eastern district of Lauenburg and the area of Putzig (Pommerellen): First reference in 1469 to Peter Tadde, also called von Polchow genannt, Lord of Rutzau.

Adolph von Thadden (1796-1882) a leader of the Great Awakening movement and founder of the Christlich-deutsche Tischgesellschaft

Elisabeth von Thadden (1890-1944), hanged by the Nazis for her part in the July Plot.

Elisabeth von Thadden (born 1961), German journalist

Eberhard von Thadden, (1909 -1964 - car accident) Nazi, follower of Rademacher, prepared the deportation of Jews from Salonika.
