Chaochou, Pingtung

Chaochou ( _zh. 潮州) is an urban township in western Pingtung County, Taiwan.

Chaochou is named after Teochew (Chaozhou), China. According to some historians, the people of Teochew landed here in 1724, and thus named this area after their home city.

* Population: 57,644 people (2003)
