Terrorism in the Philippines in the modern era are chiefly conducted by militant Islamic groups. The most active terrorist organizations in the Philippines are the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, Moro National Liberation Front, Abu Sayyaf and Jemaah Islamiyah. Prior to Islamic terrorist groups, the Philippines were terrorized by communist organizations, most notably the New People's Army.
List of terrorist incidents in the Philippines
2000
* December 30, series of bombings that occurred around Metro Manila. The explosions happened in close succession within the span of a few hours. There were twenty two reported fatalities and around hundred more suffered non-fatal injuries.
2004
* On February 27, a bombing resulted in the sinking of the ferry SuperFerry 14 and the deaths of 116 people in the Philippines' deadliest terrorist attack and the world's deadliest terrorist attack at sea.
2006
* October 10 and 11, a series of three bombings and one attempted bombing in Central Mindanao. Eight people were killed and between 30 and 46 were injured.
2007
* July 10-11, Islamic militants, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels, 14 killed members of the Philippine Marines, beheading 10 of them, on the Philippine island-province of Basilan.
* November 13, a part of the Philippine Batasang Pambansa (National Assembly) south wing, which houses the House of Representatives, exploded due to a car bomb.
