It has achieved a 60% win-rate on proposals and has won 36 e-learning awards to date. It has won numerous industry awards including the Performance Centered Design, ASTD, IT Training, Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning, APEX, BETT, BIMA, and Business World-NID Design Excellence awards.

Corporate Sustainability Initiatives

TIS has a multi-pronged approach to Corporate Sustainability that is focused on Learning Differences (LD – sometimes also referred to, inaccurately, as Learning Difficulties and, inappropriately, as Learning Disabilities). It has focused on creating greater awareness about LD thereby contributing to an improvement in social and governmental attitudes to the issue. TIS has partnered with the LD Clinic at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (better known as the Sion Hospital) for several years, providing financial support, helping streamline processes, develop remedial activities and books, the development of an LD portal (http://tldf.tatainteractive.com) and other voluntary activities. This has helped bring about changes in the state government’s MBBS syllabus, with LD being made a compulsory subject. Efforts are on to include LD in B.Ed. syllabi as well. 925 learning disabled children have received LD certification in 2007 (taking the total to 3300 in the past 5 years) and 225 new schools have registered for LD certification in 2007 (480 in the past 5 years).

Quality Assurance Certifications

Tata Interactive Systems has adopted and deploys defined and quantitatively controlled approaches to managing quality and business excellence:
* Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU) Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level 5 (the highest level) for processes to ensure Software Quality through systematic development of process capability and maturity in Key Areas of Software Development
* CMU SEI People Capability Maturity Model (P-CMM) Level 5 for maturity of workforce practices, and establishment and deployment of a program of continuous workforce development, and excellence in workforce practices

* Excellence Model framework for Self Assessment on Criteria for Business Excellence adopted by TIS’s parent organization, the Tata Group, across all Tata companies. It is an Assessment Model and a Criteria Framework that provides an integrated approach to organizational performance management focusing on all areas of business, not just production processes, with the objective of continuously improving all areas of business towards new levels of excellence across industries

Project Methodology

* TIS adopts structured workflow processes (ADDIE – an acronym for Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) that define the teams roles and the scope of the work at every stage of its projects.
* It provides three channels of communication corresponding to the communication objective, viz., day-to-day project communication; study of project requirements; and escalation mechanism in case of critical issues.
* Typical project teams comprise clients’ stakeholders and TIS’s sales teams, Instructional Design (ID) strategists, and Practice Heads who are involved in the Analysis and Consulting phase. This is followed by Ideation and Design, which involves ID, Content, Technology, and Graphics teams. Development and Review is then performed by Subject Matter Experts and Project/Program Managers. The Management and Deployment/Rollout is done by Program Managers. Evaluation and Feedback cycles feed back into the Analysis phase as inputs and/or learnings.
