List of locations on Kulthea

Below is a list of locations on Kulthea, a fictional planet for Iron Crown Enterprises' Shadow World role-playing game campaign setting, organized by continent.

Emer

Ardan City

Lying on the delta where the Fulla River meets the Lapinar Sound, Ardan City is a new and resplendent city. Capital of the city-state of Ardania, the city is a cultural melting pot. Lord Relas Ardan, known as “The Lion,” is dictator of the state and wields absolute power in his ever-increasing empire. Today, Ardania maintains influence over a realm spanning from the plains of Lygaar in the south to the Peaks of Pelegris in the north.

Ashenoq

Ashenoq is the capital of Nuyan-Khôm. It is located on the southern shore of the Lake of Glass, which occupies most of central inland Silaar. The city’s classification as a capital is a loose one, however, as the various tribal groups of the Nuyani form more of a confederacy, lacking a unified and centralized political apparatus.

Isle of Votania

An island in the sea of Votania, located in southern Hæstra, dominated by a mist-shrouded mountain that rises in the center of the island. The Isle of Votania served as the home of the Masters of Emer, six titans who ruled all of Emer during the Second Era. Following the dissolution of that empire, the Masters retreated to their palaces on the mountain's summit; it is unknown if they still reside there. During the Third Era, the Isle of Votania was the temporary capital of the Emerian Empire established by Aldaron. While the upper peaks of the island were kept off limits, Aldaron built his home, Aldain Castle, on the rocky northern shore.

Kaitaine

Located west of mainland Uj on the Island of Ciros, Kaitaine is a world-renowned trading port and, more or less, a functionally independent city state. Kaitaine is the largest city in all of Emer and second only to Sel-kai city in sheer size. Its size, wealth, and population are entirely the result of trade and commerce. It architecture consists of a myriad of styles, and its inhabitants are equally diverse.

Kenezán

As capital of the Lankan Empire (also called Lankanôk), Kenezán is home to the Lankani ruler, the "Khurtûm" (“god-king”). The city is located on the delta where the T’voca river meets the Sea of Tears. As a reflection of the society as a whole, the city clearly demonstrates the rigorous caste system that dominates Lankani social structure, which is largely composed of the indigenous Jaaderi.

Orv Cibur

This city is the main trading port of, and largest city in, Námar-Tol. It is only here that foreigners are welcome in the elven realm. It is located on the "Gref Lew" ("Jewel Cove"), a calm body of water that has direct access to the main seaborne shipping lanes that encircle Emer. The city's organization is planned and carefully coordinated along geometric arcs and circles. Crime is virtually nonexistent in Orv Cibur, as elven sheriffs patrol the streets continuously. This, as well as the city’s clean and planned nature, gives Orv Cibur a somewhat "sanitized" feel.

Varnost

Vanost is the capital of the Elven realm of Námar-Tol. In terms of size, it is little more than a village supporting a complex of administrative buildings. The community's architecture is exotic and its landscape well-modified. It is primarily inhabited by Loari elves.

Jaiman

Cynar

Located on the Bay of Ulor, Cynar was once the capital of U-Lyshak. The city was sacked and burned in S.E. 6210, an event that precipitated the region’s near-total destruction at the hands of a dark army lead by a Demon Lord. Today, it is the capital of Helyssa, one of several competing minor states in U-Lyshak. It is a respectable seaport that allows the kingdom of Helyssa to prosper from trade with the various communities that reside along the bay’s shore.

Gûl

Capital of Plasidar, Gûl is the home to the Duke of Plasidar and the second largest port in Jaiman. The banner of Gûl consists of a golden ship against a field of white and blue.

Haalkitaine

The capital of Rhakhaan, Haalkitaine is a somber and grim city built into the western side of the Gray Mountains on Jaiman. Built of the locally available granite, the skies over the city are typically overcast and precipitation is common. Its architecture is likewise dour, resulting in a somewhat claustrophobic atmosphere. While Haalkitaine is the capital of the realm, it is not the largest city; Lethys holds that distinction. And while Lethys might be reluctant at times to continue its political submission to Haalkitaine, the capital is able to maintain its supremacy through military might.

Lethys

The seaport of Lethys is the largest city in Rhakhaan and the largest trading port on the continent. Located on the east side of Nea Bay, the city dominates the southern Jaiman shipping lanes. Lethys is a vibrant and bustling port controlled by exceptionally wealthy families that still submit to Haalkitaine.

Norek

Norek is an independent city-state located at the convergence of the slow-moving Alun River and the Bay of Elysea. It is technically within the region of U-Lyshak; to the east is the Elven forest of Remiriath and to the west Ly-Aran. The city is ruled by the Council of Norek, a five-member body that has the final word on administrative issues. The military of Norek consists of a city patrol as well as the Norinth, an unusual and somewhat independent military organization of noble warriors. Adhering to a strict behavioral and ethical code known simply as “The Lock,” the Norinth pledge their loyalty to U-Lyshak, Norek, and the Council, in that order. Norek is also home to The Arcanus, a coalition of magic users also known as the Guild of Arcane Arts.

Other

Karilôn

The hidden citadel of Karilôn is the home of the College of the Loremasters. It is located on an island in the Lonely Sea ("Loorn Tesea"), but its specific location is kept hidden. The citadel contains one of the largest libraries on all of Kulthea (rivaling Nomikos). The Tower of the Winds is the highest point on Karilôn, rising 600 feet above the main citadel.
