Lisa Sigal (born
1962 ,Philadelphia ) is a contemporary artist who lives and works inBrooklyn ,New York . She works inpainting ,sculpture , andcollage .Of her abstract paintings of the 1990's and early 2000's, Sigal has said, "I've been influenced by the gestures of abstract expressionism, the excitement and devotion of Indian miniatures, and the expansiveness and precision of children's drawings." A 2001 exhibition at
Frederieke Taylor Gallery included paintings on small to medium-sized panels, as well as an expansivemural that spanned the largest wall of the gallery. In the early 2000's, Sigal began making sculptural assemblages using construction materials such as drywall, wood, and window screens, which are then painted over.She exhibited at
