Foxo Reardon was the creator of the
pantomime comic strip "Bozo". Francis Xavier Reardon was born onJanuary 5 ,1905 . At the age of sixteen, he became sports cartoonist for the "Richmond Times-Dispatch ".His early work was signed "F. X. Reardon," but the periods after the initials had a somewhat circular form and were taken for an "o" by some. It was through this circumstance that the name "Foxo" was born. Bozo was syndicated in the mid-1950s. It was distributed through the "
Chicago Sun-Times " syndicate.Foxo Reardon died of
cancer onNovember 30 ,1955 . He was buried on December 3, which was the day of the feast of the saint after whom he had been named.External links
