Wave 102 is a radio station broadcasting to the city of Dundee in Scotland.

The station broadcasts a mixed music format and broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

When the station first launched it was called Discovery 102, since Dundee is known as the City of Discovery after the RRS Discovery, which is docked there. The Wave 102 brand was born when The Discovery Channel forced it to change the name, claiming that people would mistakenly associate it with the network.

Dundee is also the city where game developers Rockstar North was founded. The developers' Scottish (and Dundonian) roots are shown in various in-jokes/tributes in the game Grand Theft Auto series. One such Dundee specific tribute is where one of the in-game radio stations in was named Wave 103.

On 15th May 2008 Adam Findlay and his company New Wave Media became the new owners of Wave 102 and has had a very hands on approach in Dundee since.

Music

Wave 102 describes itself as "Playing Only The Songs You Love", this is reflected in its playlist. As well as playing current chart hits, Wave 102 also plays various 'golden oldies', from ABBA to Take That. This programming includes themed 80s and 90s music hours, party music on Friday/Saturday evenings, and love songs in the late evening. To complement its music programming, Wave 102 also broadcasts a nationally syndicated chart show "Hit 40 UK" on Sunday afternoons from 4pm, with Lucio.

News & Sport

News & Sport also play a large part in Wave 102's output, it produces bulletins on the hour and half hour. The current News Editor is Gwen Lawrie.
