IMGthis

IMGthis was founded in 2005 as a simple image hosting service for the two creator's who needed an easy way of storing images online without all the "extras" offered by other sites. With that, they decided to develop their own service which has now expanded into a complete hosting service for websites as well along with offering web design services.

Building using a base of open source and free development languages including Java, PHP, and MySQL, IMGthis developed a simple easy to use interface for providing image hosting to its users. Offering unlimited bandwidth restrictions IMGthis provided a simple service for users who didn't require much.

In an attempt to diverge from the mainstream hosting sites, IMGthis uses a system called MyIMG that let users publish pictures to their own IMG "homepage" for viewing and sharing with anyone.

Images hosted using the service had to be in the format of JPG, GIF or PNG and must be less than 2MB each. Users could login to retrieve or delete saved images as well as uploading new ones. Ads on this site were kept to a minimum with one banner ad at the top of the page. Many different links were provided to each uploaded image in order to simply integrate with popular blog systems and other online services.

The IMGthis web site was discontinued March 1st 2007. The domain name is still owned by the original creators of IMGthis.
