- Rafael Obligado
Rafael Obligado (
January 27 1851 -March 8 de 1920) was an Argentinepoet and Playwright.Obligado was the son of Luis Obligado y Saavedra and María Jacinta Ortiz Urién. During the 1880s he became known as "el poeta del Paraná" (the poet of Paraná). He wrote poetry with
Gaucho themes, but using cultured and educated language. He was heavily influenced by contemporary French poetry.Obligado's most famous play is called "Santos Vega".
He was one of the founders of the "Facultad de Filosofía y Letras" (Faculty of Philosophy and Literature) of the
Universidad de Buenos Aires , where he served as the vicedeacon on several occasions. In 1909 he was awarded anhonorary degree by the university.panish wikisource
