The ACRISS Car Classification Code is a code used by many car rental companies, including Avis, Budget, Alamo, Europcar and National [ [http://www.acriss.org/members/ ACRISS membership list] , accessed 2007-02-04] , for classifying vehicles. ACRISS stands for Association of Car Rental Industry Systems and Standards. The code has four letters, each of which represents an attribute of the vehicle.
First letter: Category
Fourth letter: Fuel/Air Conditioning
Examples
*IDAR - Intermediate, 4-doors, automatic gearbox and air-conditioning (e.g. Audi A3 or Renault Megane Scénic)
*ECMN - Economy, 2/4 doors, manual gearbox, no air-conditioning (e.g. Ford Fiesta or Opel Corsa)
