Jonnawada

Jonnawada is a pilgrimage in Andhra Pradesh, India on the banks of river Pennar.

History

It is famous for Sri Mallikarjuna swamy and Kamakshi Tai temple constructed in the year 1150. The goddess Kamakshi is believed as an incarnation of Shakti. A 'Sri Chakram' was installed here by Sri Jagadguru Adhi Sankaracharya.

Geography

It is located on the banks of river Pennar and is 12 km from Nellore.

Economics

The village depends on agriculture and tourism.

Government

The village is part of Buchireddipalem Mandal.

Transport

The best way to reach is by bus from Nellore, which is reachable by buses and trains from major cities like Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Culture

An annual 10 day festival is celebrated during April or May. Nearby hill Narasimha Konda is also famous for another deity called Narasimha Swamy.
