- Green Cay Wetlands
Green Cay Wetlands and Nature center is located in
Boynton Beach, Florida . In 2005 it was built on land that used to belong to Ted and Trudy Winsberg, who ran their farm, Green Cay Farm off the land. It was created jointly by thePalm Beach County Utilities Department and the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department in 2004. This park includes 1.5 miles of elevatedboardwalk , which takes visitors through various habitats, includingCabbage Palm Hammock ,Cypress Swamp ,Wetland Hammock , andTropical Hardwood Hammock .Chickee Huts are spread out along the boardwalk, which also has descriptive signs offering information on the wildlife and plant life.The Nature Center showcases exhibits on the
Water Cycle as well as aturtle pond,frog terrarium,alligator hole, and a wetland diorama. There is also a theater and gift shop inside.The park is a
water reclamation facility, and naturally filters millions of gallons of water each day.Fauna
Many species of birds can be seen throughout the park, including Purple Gallinule,
Black-bellied Whistling Duck ,Black-crowned Night Heron ,Common Moorhen ,Least Bittern ,Limpkin ,Mottled Duck ,Northern Rough-winged Swallow , and Sora. Mammals includeMarsh Rabbit ,Racoon , andBobcat .References
