Andrew Campbell (yachtsman)

Andrew Campbell (born February 13, 1984 in Toms River, New Jersey) is an American yachtsman best known for his outstanding performances at the national collegiate level.

ailing career

Campbell is the former Commodore of the Georgetown University Hoyas Sailing Team (GUST). At Georgetown, he has led the #1 ranked Hoyas to the three singlehanded national championships [http://guhoyas.collegesports.com/sports/c-sail/recaps/112005aaa.html] and a second place finish in the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Associaion (ICSA) championships in Hood River, Oregon. In September 2007 he won the men's Laser Olympic qualifiers in Newport, Rhode Island.

Personal life

Campbell is the latest in a long lineage of sailing greats. In his early days, he was known as the "king of the leeboard," at San Diego Yacht Club, in reference to the unusual design of the Naples Sabot, commonly used for junior programs on the West Coast.
