Ramp Industry

Ramp Industry

Started by ex journalist Andy Crysell, Ramp Industry is a UK-based marketing and communications agency that specialises in allowing clients to communicate their brand effectively and authentically, mainly through research, strategy, word of mouth or buzz marketing, the creation of branded content (this can be online or offline) and viral marketing.

Ramp's client list includes Guardian Media Group, Channel 4, Orange, Christian Aid, Topman, River Island, Ikea and PlayStation 3.

Ramp Industry was sold to St Luke's in 2007 and Ramp's founder started a new agency, called Crowd DNA [http://www.crowdDNA.com] , in 2008.

thefountainremixed and more

Ramp Industry's most successful project so far has been the creation of thefountainremixed.com, a promotion for the film The Fountain released in 2006 in the US. The website allowed users to download uncut footage from the film and encouraged them to use this, along with downloadable logos and text, to create a trailer which could then be uploaded to the website for others to view.

CHANNEL 4 WORK

In fact, their work for Channel 4 is their most successful project. Research into youth culture called UKTribes.com, this Channel 4 work has been featured in media like the Independent and London Paper and played a part in various brands' strategies.

threespeech

As part of the marketing for PlayStation 3, Ramp Industry set up an 'independent' blog called threespeech, which apparently aims to perform a similar role as Major Nelson does for the Xbox 360. On the website, Ramp states:

This is threespeech... threespeech isn't part of PlayStation, but it does get to speak to PlayStation. You could say we're 'semi official'.
However, the blog's independent status has been called into question a number of times by gaming news websites such as Kotaku.

Three Speech has found a role reaching out to gamers sick of fanboy sniping and its offline events have proved to be particularly successful.

Threespeech now reports traffic of 4 million unique users a year.

word of mouth

Ramp Industry is starting to play a major role in worth of mouth marketing in the UK. According to experts involved in consulting on it its current (late 2007) wom research work for The Guardian is likely to have significant results
