OpenBee

OpenBee

OpenBee is the name of a project initiated by researchers and engineers at HES-SO Valais (University of Applied Science of Valais, Switzerland). The aim of this project is to develop a ZigBee-compatible protocol stack for Short Range, Low Power, Ad-hoc Networks (SLANs).

The OpenBee stack will be developed using an Unified Modeling Language (UML) based model driven development process. This means, developers are working in a UML model and the code is generated out of this model. This makes it possible to be target independent, i.e. it will work on most microcontrollers and with most IEEE802.15.4 compliant transceivers.

History

* The OpenBee project began to be conceived about 2004, when researches recognized the growing interest about wireless personal area networks (WPANs)
* The OpenBee project is currently stopped.
