J. League 2007

The J. League 2007 season is the 15th season since the establishment of the J. League. The season began on March 3 and ended on December 1, 2007.

General

Promotion and relegation

* At the end of the 2006 Season, Yokohama F.C., Kashiwa Reysol, and Vissel Kobe were promoted to J1
* At the end of the 2006 Season, Avispa Fukuoka, Cerezo Osaka, and Kyoto Purple Sanga were relegated to J2.

Changes in Competition Formats

* In the past, J.LEAGUE Champion qualified to A3 Champions Cup, but from 2007, the Nabisco Cup winner receives the A3 berth.
* J.LEAGUE champion receives the host spot at the FIFA Club World Cup, unless a Japanese club receives the AFC spot as the ACL winner.

Changes in clubs

*Kyoto Purple Sanga is renamed Kyoto Sanga F.C.

Honours

† Urawa Red Diamonds won the 2006 Emperor's Cup and already qualified for AFC Champions League. Since Urawa takes the extra spot as the defending 2007 ACL champion; therefore Gamba Osaka received the third ACL spot as the 2006 Emperor's Cup runners-up.
‡ Gamba Osaka qualifies to A3 and PPC as the Nabisco Cup winner.

Promotion/Relegation Series 2007

The game was conducted between Kyoto Sanga F.C. from J2 and J1's Sanfrecce Hiroshima. After two games, Kyoto Sanga F.C. edged Sanfrecche Hiroshima with 2-1 results and earned their promotion to Division 1.
