Records of the Grand Historian " he was listed bySima Qian as the twenty-first Shang king, succeeding his older brotherXiao Xin (Chinese: 小辛). He was enthroned with Yin (Chinese: 殷) as his capital. In the sixth year of his reign he ordered his sonWu Ding (Chinese: 武丁) to live at He (Chinese: 河) and study at Ganpan (Chinese: 甘盘).
