Riogate

Riogate was a short-lived pseudo-controversy during the 1992 American Presidential election campaign.

The Clinton campaign team (including James Carville and George Stephanopoulos) released a video tape of a Brazilian newscast which showed Bush re-election campaign materials being printed in Brazil. After the initial reaction of the media questioning whether Government funds were used to print the materials, and why they were not printed in the US, the event quickly faded from focus.
