- RPM Challenge
The RPM Challenge is a creative challenge offered yearly to musicians, similar to other time-based challenges such as
NaNoWriMo (the National Novel Writing Month held each November).RPM invites musicians to create a whole album of music, 10 songs or 35 minutes, in the month of February. There is no winner of the challenge, which functions solely to give musicians a needed push towards finishing original material and help them achieve a sense of satisfaction. The albums are then made available for streaming and sharing via an online jukebox, and a
listening party is held.History
In its first year, 2006, the challenge was offered to bands on the New Hampshire Seacoast, who produced 165 albums. In 2007, the challenge was opened to participants all over the world, and over 2400 bands signed up from such varied locations as
Tokyo ,Auckland ,Ottawa ,Antarctica andOslo , who turned in over 850 completed albums. 2008 sign ups are underway as of January 9th, 2008.External links
